Dixie News Miss Daisy Norron Antioch will have their fifth Sunday night singing. We want all groups of singers and we like sing ing. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Boykin and daughter, Wanda, of Wilson, were the weekend guests of Mrs. Stella Narron and Lessie Stancil and son, Johnny. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Davis and son, Mark, of Fayetteville were the weekend guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wade Davis. Army Private Takes Maneuvers Army Pvt. Bobby E. Ferrell, 21, son of Mrs. Christine Hodge, Route 2, Wendell, recently took part in escape and evasion training ma neuvers with other members of the 8th Division’s 504th Infantry near Mainz, Germany. Ferrell is a rifleman in Company B of the infantry’s 1st Airborne Battle Group. I Floyd Price, Jr. On Carrier Floyd D. Price, Jr., damage con trolman third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd D. Price, Sr., of Route 2, Zebulon, is serving aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Boston, which returned to her homeport, Boston, Mass., Feb. 28, after seven months Mediterranean duty. The Boston, flagship of Cruiser Destroyer Flotilla Ten, is now slat ed for yaTd work and an overhaul in Charlestown Naval Shipyard, Mass. Personal Notes Tony Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Wilson of Zebulon, was recently honorably discharged from military service. He spent 31 months in Landstuhe, Germany. He plans to attend Mississippi Southern College this fall on an athletic scholarship. * Jimmy Perry spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Perry, Sr. He and Miss Freddie Clark attended the Mili tary Ball at State College on Sat urday night. The ball was held in the College Union on the campus. * Sonny Perry, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Perry, Sr., is with the Air Force, stationed at Biloxi, Miss. * Connie May is a patient at Rex Hospital. # Mrs. Charlie Debnam returned home Sunday after undergoing surgery at Rex Hospital. She re ports she is “doing fair" and will require about six weeks to recover. Wilber D. Conn is serving as a I case worker with the American I Red Cross at Paintsville, Ky. * j Mr. and Mns. Willie Bryant are spending this week in Spartan burg, S. C., as guests of Mrs. Bry ant’s sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hayes. Mrs. Hayes, who is ill with cancer, will under go surgery this week. * Gray Horton III, of Raleigh un derwent a tonsillectomy last Wed nesday at Rex Hospital. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ruric Gill. Sr. « Mrs. L. M. Massey attended a luncheon, fashion show and bridge session of the Fourth Dental So ciety Auxiliary held at the Raleigh Country Club Tuesday. * Mrs. M. B. Chamblee is spending this week with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Liles of Sanford. Mrs. John Kemp is in Orange, Va., visiting her sister, Mrs. Ralph Brown. * Newest member of Zebulon Lions Club is Jimmy Wheeler. He is associated with J. M. Chevrolet Co. here. Tobacco Meeting Tobacco growers in Franklin County are urged to attend a county-wide meeting Friday night, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the courthouse, according to Walter Dean, president of the Flue-Cured Tobacco Growers Association. Dean said at this meeting of ficers for the Franklin County unit will be elected. Three directors to serve on the organization’s board will also be elected. Dean said tobacco growers in Franklin County can do a lot to help the tobacco program and urges them to be at this meeting and be heard.
